According to the legend, the name comes from a girl who drowned herself in the lake, hoping to catch her midsummer wreath. Another legend says that in 1812 a daughter of the forester fell in love in a Russian officer, so she had betrayed the French, for whom she worked previously. French desicded to hang her on the tree at the peninsula and the wind tore her clothes. Others believe that the history of Bare Sophie is completely different... No matter which legend is authentic, the most important is that the peninsula attracts tourists a lot. The sculpture of a Bare Sophie is undoubtedly a unique tourist attraction.
