Augustów Economic Activity Zone
Augustów EAZ is one of the most important pro-development investments carried out by the local government of Augustów. The investment areas are located at the intersection of national roads towards Warsaw (DK 61) and Białystok (DK 8). Fully developed investment areas significantly increase the investment attractiveness of Augustów and are of key importance for the economic development of the city.

- intended for service development in the field of spa treatment and tourism services at Hotelowa Street, near Lake Necko, in the vicinity of the future spa park,
- intended for service development in the field of spa treatment services and other medical activities at M. Konopnicka Street,
- intended for service development in the field of tourist services (hotels) and culture on the Netta river boulevard,
- intended for service development in the field of tourism, sport and recreation, care for the elderly at Lake Białe.

In 2019, the population of Augustów was 30,153 people, with a prevailing number of women. Per 100 men there are 111 women.

Labour market
The number of unemployed in the district of Augustów, at the end of 2019, amounted to 2,1230. The unemployment rate at the end of 2019 was 9,7% of the working population.
Transport
Railway line no. 40 (Sokółka-Suwałki) goes through Augustów. The town has a railway station and a railway stop - Augustów Port (for passenger trains) located at a distance of about 3 km from the centre. Augustów has direct rail connections with the south through Sokółka to Bialystok and Warsaw, and with north - Suwałki and Šeštokai in Lithuania.
Public transport in Augustów is run by the Necko Transportation Company.
Long-distance transportation is dominated by PKS Suwałki. Augustów has direct bus connections with Warsaw, Białystok, Cracow, Wroclaw, Olsztyn, Suwałki, Ełk, Sejny, Gołdap, Węgorzewo, Mikołajki, Łomża, Grajewo, Dąbrowa Białostocka and also smaller towns in the region.
Economy
Augustów, due to its favourable natural conditions, has become a thriving center for boatbuilding. Three large boatyards currently operate here, producing laminate boats and yachts with cutting-edge technology. The offered products, thanks to high utility and aesthetic quality, are recognized brands both locally and abroad. Most boats produced in Augustów are exported.
One of Europe’s most modern tobacco factories, which is owned by British American Tobacco, also operates in Augustów. The town thrives on the wood industry. There are also other large manufacturing plants, e.g. the agricultural machinery manufacturer POM, or Augustowianka - a mineral water producer.
In Augustów, there are approximately 2.7 thousand registered business entities, including over 200, in the industrial sector and almost 300 in the construction sector.
Education
In town, there is 6 educational institutions managed by the Municipality of Augustów, including: 1 nursery, 1 kindergartens, 4 school and kindergarten team.
Tourism
Augustów is one of the most important tourist centres in the Podlaskie Province. The town has held the status of a health resort since 1993. Tourist advantages are mainly related to the surrounding lakes, the Augustów Forest and the major waterway being the historic Augustów Canal. Every year around 250 thousand tourists visit Augustów.
