Water-skiing
Augustów is a great place to practice water-skiing. It is a physically demanding sport, but guarantees unforgettable experiences. Traditions in this beautiful sport date back to the 1960s, when Augustów was one of the few places in Poland where the first attempts to 'slide' on water were made.
Water-skiing behind a boat
In Augustów, you can try your hand at water-skiing in two ways: behind a boat or water ski cable. You can use the traditional two skis or try wake boarding.
There are three disciplines within water skiing:
-
slalom
-
figure skiing
-
jumping
In Augustów, you can practice all the disciplines. The clubs of the Interschool Centre of Sport (Międzyszkolny Ośrodek Sportowy) and the Augustów Sports Club “Sparta” are very successful. We recommend a great place to practice at the 'Tartaczna Gulf’ on Biale Lake, with a prepared slalom, ski jump and other infrastructure necessary to improve your qualifications.
Poland's first water ski cable
In Augustów, there is also the water ski cable. It is the first of its kind in Poland. It was built in 1999 on beautiful Necko Lake. This is undoubtedly one of the biggest attractions in the region, and was awarded the prestigious title of the 'Tourist attraction of the year 1999' by the Polish Tourist Organization. Water ski cable is 740 m long and its maximum speed is up to 58 km/h.
Professional service is provided on-site, along with professional instructors and ski rental.
Single ride costs 5 PLN with equipment, while an all-day ticket without equipment is 100 PLN.
The cable is open:
-
In July, August on weekdays: 11:30 - 18:45, on weekends: 10:30 - 19:45,
-
In September on weekends: 10:30 - 17:45,
