Fishing

Augustów is a paradise for both amateur and professional fishermen. You can fish from the shore or a boat, and the fishing season lasts all year. In winter, when lakes freeze, you can try ice-fishing. In the Augustów Forest you can fish to your heart's content; clean lakes and rivers, and peace and quiet are perfect for anglers.

All those who intend to fish in accordance with the regulations in Poland are required to have a fishing license and purchase a permit for amateur fishing issued by the host of water.

Places where you can fish in Augustów:

Białe Lake – area of 476,60 ha, max. depth 30m. Fish: pike, perch, eel, sow, catfish, whitefish, roach, bream, tench, rudd.

Blizno Lake – area of 241 ha, max. depth 26m. Fish: bream, pike, perch, roach.

Długie (Kalejty) Lake – area of 159 ha, max. depth 12m. Fish: bream, roach, pike, tench, carp.

Necko Lake – area of 400 ha, max. depth 25m. Fish: eel, perch, pike, bream, roach, chub, catfish, carp, tench and ide.

Rospuda Lake – area of 104 ha, max. depth 11m. Fish: bream, tench, pike, perch, eel, catfish, roach, chub and ide.

Sajenek Lake – area of 35,8 ha. Fish: pike, perch, tench, perch, eel, roach, bream, whitefish, sow, catfish, burbot, carp, smelt.

Sajno Lake – area of 522 ha, max. depth 27m. Fish: pike, perch, eel, perch, carp, bream, tench and sow.

Serwy Lake – area of 460 ha, max. depth 41.5m. Fish: pike, bream, perch, roach, bleak, silver bream.

Studzieniczne Lake – area of 251 ha, max. depth 30m. Fish: eel, perch, pike, bream, roach, perch, tench, whitefish and rudd.

Sajenek Pond – area of 35,8 ha, fish: pike, perch, tench, perch, eel, roach, bream, whitefish, catfish, burbot, carp, smelt.

Wojciech Pond – area of 22,6 ha. Fish: pike, perch.

Netta River – an average depth of 1.6m, ranges from 0.6 to 5m and the average width is 17 - 20m. Fish: ide, dace, chub, white bream, bream, tench, burbot, perch, roach, pike, rudd, eel, catfish.

Fishing events:

A competition for children and teenagers on Children's Day, which takes place on the Netta River walking/bike paths, always on a Sunday around June 1.

Family float competition organized on the Netta River walking/bike paths on the first and second Sunday of July.

The PAA Club Ice Fishing Championship in Augustów on the Rospuda River in January-February.

The PAA Club Float Championship in Augustów on the Augustów Canal in April-May
